Reactions to 10x02 [spoilers]

Jared's acting is so, so good. I'm just so - impressed, touched, proud of him... *cuddles boy*

I so missed Dean/Sam interactions. They are the basis of the series for me, I hope we get more of them. Loved the ones we got. The echoing of previous times. Before Sam said it was because Dean was his brother and he was taking him home (mrrrrrmm), I was quoting "it's OK! Cause you're my bother, and I still love you! Boop!", and The Man who Knew Too Much, but of course it could have been so many quotes. Loved it. And the reunion scene! No hug (but a reference to Sam's arm)! No Sammy! No music even, so bare, and it all was in Sam's expression, ahh. For me, I loved that after IDEK how many times one of them came back and got holy water in their face - for once, yeah, dean was a demon.

I liked the breakup with Crowley, though I would have loved just one moment, one glimpse deep and raw into Crowley and why this truly got to him.

The ticking clock of having to kill - really not a thing that should be a problem for human Dean even, he's a hunter... Basically it's a vampire story, and Sam is Bela.I'm not so moved by demon!Dean. I enjoy him, but don't very much care. The thing that makes me care, in Dean, is vulnerability. And I don't expect him to be the one demon crying and needing cuddles, though if anyone's gonna be that, Dean's a likely choice. But we don't get to see much in the plot or his reactions... OK:

About Demon Dean. People have different feelings going on. Sometimes there are stronger feelings that overshadow needs and important weaker feelings, drives. I'm pretty sure Dean's drive to be a good son, to take care of Sam and so forth always overshadowed other feelings and needs of his, we never got to discover a Dean without them. What other needs, that he's been pushing down for all his life, would come up now? Or - something, I want something. If Dean has fewer inhibitions he could hunt down everyone he loves and make them live with him the way he wants. Or he could raise John from the dead to hunt with or to beat up or have closure or whatever. To fuck. Or - something that's more about Dean's own trauma or desires or past or hope or something ... even if it's "not Dean", there's Dean bits there that I want to get to see. More interesting bits than fucking waitresses, though I did miss that Dean last season. I like that they didn't go dark with it, but things like Mystery Spot are great examples of the way you can stay light and also go deep...

BTW, though - Dean not killing that woman is so Dean, if only cause Dean has a long history of siding with people he considers sluts against forces who condemn their slutiness. No to mention, he killed the guy, but also prevented him going to hell, probably into a demon himself.

I am not getting Cole. I didn't need the flashback scene - got that he was like Amy's kid but different from last episode already. Thought Sam was gonna kill him at some point. Also, just petty - I read him as at least 40 (did Dean kill his father during The Song Remains the Same?) - I assume they didn't want to use Amy's son cause he would be too young to appear threatening, supposedly? But then he's still younger than the boys... And they repeated the timeline to call attention to that... I just realized the thing about him that most makes me feel for him is indeed that he'd reminded me of Inigo Montoya too, and him, I am very fond of ....
Did Cole call Sam 'Sammy' (while Dean didn't)? How would he know to do that?

I approve of the two punches we got in this ep - one for misogyny, one for sub-shaming. (at least I read them like that)

Should not have been drinking when Dean said the Impala was just a car.

What Dean will do to Sam is also not mercy -
yeah, but having left to begin with was meant as mercy, Dean. As I read it, Dean wanted to be caught, at least part of him wanted it, perhaps to be close to Sam again, and he himself isn't sure how dangerous he is, how much of himself he still is, so this is meant as a disclaimer or warning. He's making scary faces at Sam to see if Sam will leave him again. It's always Dean's thing. Had it been someone else, perhaps I would have believed the "I'm telling you cause it won't change anything" psychological torture angle, but when has Dean ever been very big on psychological torture?

IMO, Sam is definitely emotionally influenced by all of this and full of worry and doubt about what Dean is and so forth - but has a clear plan - get Dean back, no matter what he says or does, no matter what happens to Sam, too.

ETA : I do want fic in which the 'it won't be mercy either' means that Dean has spent all those years not going for it with Sam, pining and so forth, but not allowing himself to go there , and now he;s not gonna hold back. I love first time more and more the further the show progresses, and the 'Dean keeps his feelings secret to protect Sam' deserves a nod, even after all this time.
